Lighting - P3(c)

For this project I have mainly used the one really effective plan of lighting the objective which is 3 point lighting. This have allowed me to produce the highest possible quality of the product. Therefore, this has allowed me to make a better quality of editing which then made a high quality of product.

This is the plan of the actual setup:

As you can see that the actor is surrounded with the lights, so the every part of his body is litted up and the quality of the product is high. There are some great examples of those low key lighting photos like:

Low-key lighting is a style of lighting for photography, film or television. It is a necessary element in creating a chiaroscuro effect. Traditional photographic lighting, three-point lighting uses a key light, a fill light, and a back light for illumination. Low-key lighting often uses only one key light, optionally controlled with a fill light or a simple reflector.
( this information have been taken from this website:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-key_lighting)

Low key lighting is a way of taking photos with a one source of light using. This way of lighting the objective is really effective if you would want to create the dark and moody pictures that are very influential.

As I was focused on creating my

In this section I would like to talk to you about the lighting which we use.
  • Direct light
We used direct like in order to create some shadows in those pictures. As our plan was to create a dark working atmosphere, we used this kind of light as is sends one way of light which makes room dark and focus for a person. There are some photos of it :

Technical controls - P3(b)

We have done some tries to create some pictures in order to make the pictures with different settings. Therefore, after we have done them, I have found the settings of this pictures and will discuss the actual change in the settings of the camera.

Picture 1.
The first picture was ruined so I can show the actual settings of the camera and which changes I have done.

Picture 2.
I wanted to create a high quality picture and this is the most successful one. I used 50mm lens and the camera was set to manual program. The ISO is extremely high 6400, which is the highest you can get on this camera. In the same time, the shutter speed are quite  high , which is 1/1000 sec. Every objective in this picture is in focus because of the small aperture i have set. And as I haven't used the lights for those pictures, I wanted to increase the light level in this picture, so it bright enough.

Picture 3.
in this picture, I wanted to create a high quality picture and this is the most successful one. I used 50mm lens and the camera was set to manual program. The ISO is extremely low which is 320 , which is the lowest you can get on this camera. In the same time, the shutter speed are quite low , which is 1/500 sec. Every objective in this picture is in focus because of the small aperture i have set. Picture 4.
I wanted to create a high quality picture and this is the most successful one. I used 50mm lens and the camera was set to manual program. The ISO is extremely low which is the same as the previous one which is 320, which is the lowest you can get on this camera. In the same time, the shutter speed are quite  high, which is 1/ 250 sec. Every objective in this picture is in focus because of the small aperture i have set. And as I have used the lights for those pictures, I wanted to increase the light level in this picture, so it bright enough.

There are some pictures of us doing those photos:

In those pictures we have done the the pictures of the same objective but with a different camera settings. Those setting have been used to create some special effects for the picture without the use of "Photoshop". There are the different settings for the camera that could be used:
We have used a small bit of those settings as we wanted to try the most effective ones when we use other WB mode. Those are they:

Composition - P3(a)

This picture we have taken in Kent College:

After adding some effect, we came out with this picture:
Now I would like to analyze it fully:

Rule of thirds: In the photo above you can see that we used rule of thirds, as we tried to make this tree in the middle and the rest of the leaves in the right and left parts of picture. This hve created an effect of the picture is balanced and viewer is looking at the tree fist ( in the middle of the picture.

Balanced elements: As I have already said earlier, by placing main subject in the center, as with the rule of thirds, it creates a more increasing photo. This means that every viewer is looking at the middle of the picture as the contrast is there.

Leading lines: When you look at the lines, you see the tree first, as the contrast is there, and then you start to look around the picture to capture everything what is happening in this picture.  By thinking about how you place lines in the composition, you can affect the way we view the image, pulling us into the picture, towards the subjects, or on a journey through the scene.

Symmetry and Patterns: As this picture is symmetrical, as the main object is placed right in the middle of the picture, so you can draw the line of symetry right in the middle of the picture.Another great way to them is to break the symmetry or pattern in some way, this introduces tension and a focal point to the scene.

Viewpoint: Before taking a shot of the place you want, take some time of thinking what do you want in your picture and what you don't, as the viewer is very critical to what is shown in the picture. On of the main things is a viewpoint as it creates a feel of the picture.Rather than just shooting from eye level, consider photographing from high above, down at ground level, from the side, from the back, from a long way away, from very close up, and so on.

Background: Human eye is an excellent tool which helps people to realise what is happening in front of them. This happens with pictures as well. It is really easy for it to recognise the main objective in the scene which means that if you create a blurry background, the objective on the front will look much clear then with a normal one. Therefore, the picture was taken when there were a small steam, so you will be focused on the tree.

Depth: Because the main objective is really clear and contrasted, picture became without a lot of depth, as you want the viewers to be focused on the main objective, when on other things.

Framing: The world is of objects which makes a perfect natural frames, such as trees, oceans and mountains. Therefore we thought to place a tree right in the middle of a composition, which means that it is perfectly framed.

Cropping:  Often a photo will lack on the focus of the main subject, therefore some photos are cropped in order to make them stand out. In this case, it is not cropped as the main subject is placed right in the middle and is in focus.

Purpose: is create a nice looking picture which could be placed in a magazine.

This is a part of a rugby posts in Kent College:

Those are the rest of the pictures that we have taken in order that we have a different photos to analyse:

In order to try some ISO changes we have been doing our own pictures. There they are:

This experimnetal photo was done with those seggings. The shutter speed is really high (1/500 sec), but the aperture is really small, so there is a focus on the objective as the ISO is 1250 so there is more light coming through the lens.

In this picture,I have been trying to take some shots while my friend was running. The background appeared very sharp but my friend is blurry. The ISO have to be lowest, as the shutter speed makes the effect that I want as we taking the picture to try the difference in the shutter speed and the effects it gives.

P3 a,b,c

In this section I will be talking about my pictures that haven't been adited yet. I will be adding the detailed information and making comments on why I have done the particular change in the settings and which I thought that this picture can be putted forward. I have decided to edit most of those photos, as they have turned really good with the effects I was trying to achieve. There are 15 pictures which a full information about the picture quality and the effect I was thinking to achieve.

Picture 1.
This picture have been taken in the same time, as others which you will see in the coming sections. Those pictures were taken as the most well lighted and I feel that those pictures are a great material to work with. This means that the pictures are easy to be edited and presented well in the same time.

In this picture the model is presenting the ball with a scary face. This picture is focused on the representing the passions of the rugby player during the line out. To make this happen I have been thinking about making this picture dark as this will give some sort of effect to this picture as the players' face will look more powerful and influential for customer to buy the product. Therefore, I have decided to take this picture with 50mm lens. This lens allows me to take the highest possible quality of the footage. To achieve this aim I have used specific settings for my camera, as I thought they are the most optimal for this type of project. Therefore, I have set my ISO up to 6400 which means that I have included the highest amount of light as possible in order to edit this picture in more detail. This means that it will be easier for me to edit the picture. The shutter speed is 1/800 which allowed me to make the camera be unfocused from the white background that will have to be removed in future. In the same time, the aperture is at f4/0 so the camera is highly focused  on the objectives.
